Dear Snail Pace Transformations Readers, Since our last child graduated in 2020, I have been on a journey of transformation. I lost my job as a homeschooling mom and intended to replace all the time spent on the kids' education with the blog and enjoy more road trips with my husband. But life had other plans. Without getting too TMI, menopause HIT HARD right around the same time my youngest graduated, and it was not nice. It came with crippling anxiety, panic attacks, and hot flashes, and those are the only symptoms I want to mention publicly. I spent two years fighting on my own and another two years getting back to a fairly healthy version of me with the help of my Dr and therapist. During those years, you might have noticed that I was very absent from Snail Pace Transformations. I had extreme brain fog, and writing the long, detailed posts the algorithms now want to keep showing my blogs to enough people to earn a decent amount of ad revenue and affiliate revenue was next to impossible (I love my readers, but I can't work for free). With brain fog and decreasing revenue, I went back to reselling. I decided to turn my middle son's empty bedroom into a storage area for my inventory, set up a shipping area, and a place for picture props. I started working on my store a few hours a day, as my health allowed. (You can see my store and items for sale here) In late 2025, I started to feel like I could finally devote more hours to "paid" work. I thought about going back to blogging -but with Google allowing us to speak to it to get verbal answers, sadly, blogging seems to be on the decline (at least for blogs with topics like mine). Here is where you will find me going forward Victoria Thrifts Facebook Page - was the Snail Pace Transformations page, I renamed it. Victoria Thrifts YouTube - Go subscribe now if you are interested. I plan to start weekly videos in June. Victoria Thrifts It Instagram -I will be more active on Facebook, but when it is simple to post to both, I will. The Parents Flew The Nest Facebook Page - Pictures of our travels, that you can save and share to visit yourself. The Parents Flew The Nest Instagram -When we are traveling, I post stories here quite often. Reedeeming Time Creations Facebook Page - Where I share crafting and faith content. Medium -where I write posts about whatever I want to write about My What I Read List -this is on my Amazon storefront. (affiliate link, when you purchase, I benefit financially at no cost to you) And For Those Of You Who Want The Reasoning Behind All The Places If you are wondering why I don't just sell more on eBay. It comes down to these reasons. One: storage space. I don't want my inventory to spill into other areas of our home, and I don't want to have to drive to a storage unit to get the items I need to ship out. Plus, I like having one shopping session per week, and I would have to shop way more often to get enough items to create a full-time income. Two: We travel. Usually 4 days or more each month, but sometimes longer, like this past February, when I tried being a snowbird for the first time for an entire month, and it made such a difference to my mental well-being. When we travel, my eBay store is turned off, which means no income. Three: I like variety. I have set my work schedule to four 9-hour workdays and one 4-hour workday. I can't imagine listing items for 9 hours straight. Four: I like to share with others things I am learning: With all this in mind, I began 2026 researching and praying about how to shape my paid work hours. Finally, this past weekend, it all became clear to me. I have been a thrifter since I first started earning my own money in my teens. I don't just shop secondhand to flip items for a profit; I also thrift to save money, have unique items in my home, create unique pieces from my finds, and keep things out of the landfill. Those topics are things I am sure others want to learn about, but blogging is no longer the best place to share my skills. Instead, I am going to do it primarily on Facebook, YouTube, and right here through email. You might have noticed that I changed the Snail Pace Transformations Facebook to Victoria Thrifts a few days ago and am already starting to post there. My plans for YouTube are to begin a month-long challenge in April, filming myself every day, rewatching, making notes on how to improve, and then deleting the video. Then I plan to go live on Facebook every day in May. Finally, in June, I will start weekly videos on YouTube. This plan will help me publish higher-quality videos on YouTube from the start, hopefully allowing me to see faster growth than I would if I published without training. YouTube is how I am hoping to replace the blog income I lost. I am going to leave Snail Pace Transformations live for now, so you can still enjoy the content I have written there. I am also leaving The Parents Flew The Nest blog live. I still make enough off of them to cover their expenses for now. I plan to write one last post telling visitors where they can find me now. But I wanted to tell you first. You are my biggest fans, and you deserve to know first. My Hobby-Focused Online Activities My therapist had me write a list of things I like to do for fun, and then told me to do more of that. So I am setting aside time for writing, photography, and crafts, and allowing myself some time at the end of the day, when I am too tired to do other work, to sit and share that with others. I couldn't give up writing altogether, though, so I joined Medium and will be sharing SHORT yet informative articles there. I plan to write what I feel like writing, and not a narrow range of topics. There is a membership fee for readers and writers; the cheapest option is $50 for a one-year subscription, but it lets you read ALL 100,000+ writers' work, not just one, like many membership programs. As a reader, Medium feels like an online magazine. There are some writers who are obviously writing just for clicks, but that is the minority; most offer great value to the community. The writing covers a wide range of topics, helping you learn things to apply to all of life. Having been a member for several months now, I can honestly say I would keep my subscription even if I didn't write there. It is kind of like reels for those who prefer reading. I also have a large group of friends who love seeing pictures of our travels. I was sharing them primarily on my personal Facebook page, but I now share them at the public The Parents Flew The Nest Facebook page. This allows people to save posts about places they want to visit and share them with others they want to travel with. I post almost daily here (thanks to the power of Facebook scheduling tools). And lastly, when I started selling my crafts that I make while watching TV and while being a passenger princess at a local coffee shop under the company name Redeeming Time Creations, I also created a Facebook page under that name. Here I share craft and faith-related content a few times a week. My Amazon storefront will remain open. For those of you who like to see what I read, I have created a reading list there every year for the past few years. Visiting the store and purchasing anything through it is a great way to support me without spending anything extra. And lastly, if you are willing to stay subscribed, I will be showing up in your mailbox, weekly-ish, sharing thrifting tips related not just to reselling but to saving money through thrifting, as well as how to repurpose, reuse, and repair items. If you don't want that, no biggie, use the unsubscribe button at the bottom of this email to stop receiving future emails. Victoria |
